This week, Victoria sits down with Oxana Vulpe, an immigrant from Moldova who came to the U.S. on a college visa with just $500 to her name. Oxana shares what it was like to move to New Orleans and work in the sex industry without ever going into debt, while navigating the darker side of that world (from pimps to trafficking to the constant vices surrounding it). She talks about how she chose a different path, when she knew it was time to walk away, and how she built her own beauty studio from the ground up.
Now, Oxana travels the world, balances business with freedom, and still keeps close ties to her home country. Along the way, she reflects on what poverty looks like in America versus Europe, and why she still believes the American Dream is alive, if you’re willing to fight for it.
